I have hosted several postdocs and colleagues who have applied for funding to support their visit. Some of them stayed for 3 months and some for two years. All these visits were very productive for several reasons so I am happy to support them as long as the candidate is serious about doing research during her/his stay.
If you are interested on spending some time working together let me know with as much anticipation as possible. Usually there are quite a few things to sort out in advance, like finding a space at my work place, etc. Some funding schemes require starting working on this a year in advance of the visit.
